Through the Tree

This is one of my all-time favorite pictograph panels, and one of the reasons I originally became interested in rock art in the first place. When I took this photo I actually stuck my camera into a nearby tree to frame the pictographs with the out-of-focus branches. It took me a few tries to get something that I liked since I couldn’t use the viewfinder! I’m happy with the result 🙂

Skeleton Shaman Alcove

Here’s another photo of the Skeleton Shaman which has got to be one of my all time favorite pictographs to visit. Not only are the pictographs interesting, but the condition of the panel is also excellent. This photo shows more of the shallow alcove that these magnificent paintings are located in.

The Skeleton Shaman at the Head of Sinbad in the San Rafael Swell is not only one of my most favorite pictograph panels around, it’s also one of the best preserved examples of Barrier Canyon Style, too. It’s no wonder that every time I am in the area, I have to stop and admire these beautiful pictographs!
